Hugh Hefner, the iconic founder of the international adult magazine Playboy, has passed at the age of 91.
Hef founded Playboy in 1953 which rocketed into a multimillion-dollar empire. Playboy magazine is one of the most recognisable American global brands in history, the magazine itself helped make nudity more acceptable in mainstream publications.
But the magazine wasn’t just about sex. Playboy published articles by some of the most celebrated writers. The magazine also earned respect for addressing social issues and conducting interviews with high-profile figures like Martin Luther King Jr., John Lennon and Muhammad Ali.
Over the years, the legend of “Hef” only grew as he bedded hundreds of young women and married a few of his magazine’s “Playmates”. The brand went from a magazine to TV shows, jazz festivals and a string of Playboy Clubs.
Hugh Hefner was more than a business mogul, he was an idol to some and an inspiration to many. Hef showed people that you are able to create the life you want to live and he did exactly that. Hugh Hefner really lived his dream.
In my wildest dreams, I could not have imagined a sweeter life. – Hugh Hefner
